Goal #1: Run the New York City Marathon

Last May, I ran the Long Island Marathon in 4 hours and two minutes. It was probably one of the most difficult things I have done, but crossing the finish line was one of the top two or three moments of my life. Running 26.2 miles was the easy part, though.

The difficulty was in the 420-450 miles leading up to the marathon. Staying dedicated for over 16 weeks straight. Running on a cold and snowy January morning. Squeezing in a five mile run at two in the morning after a long day of class and work. Running 18 miles in 30 mile-an-hour winds. Running 20 miles immediately after getting off a sleepless red-eye flight from California. Those are the most difficult times, but they are also the most fun.

Tomorrow, I start training for the 2010 Long Island Marathon on May 3rd and the 2010 New York City Marathon on November 7th. On top of that, I am going to raise $3000 for the Team For Kids charity. I know it’s going to be difficult and I also know it is going go by extremely fast. So, I am going to do my best to enjoy every minute of it.
